Это могло произойти после изменения пароля root и не изменения его в файле конфигурации. Попробуйте сбросить пароль root. –
нет решения, но: мой опыт в том, что гораздо лучше запустить linux vm на хосте Windows вместо xampp. Простота в использовании и перенос на другой компьютер, и вам не нужно иметь дело с проблемами с окнами. – steven
