[NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:1 target:self selector:@selector(myTimerTick:) userInfo:nil repeats:YES]; // the interval is in seconds... 

... тогда ваш метод myTimerTick: должен выглядеть следующим образом ..

    if(some_contiditon) 
    { 
     // Do stuff... 
    }
